廣州地鐵三號線廣州東站地處瘦狗嶺南麓，地勢略呈北高南低，地面高程為13.74～21.13m，北面有廣園路，中部為鐵路站場，南面為廣州東站大片站房建筑。廣州東站折返線大部分位于瘦狗嶺下，其余部分位于廣園東路下方。所處的地形起伏較大，地面高程為19.91 ～105m。廣園東路及廣園東路以南為山前沖積平原地貌為主，瘦狗嶺地段為山地。廣園東路上的地面和高架橋上交通繁忙。
廣州東站主要包括廣州東站及站后折返線暗挖隧道工程。站后折返線暗挖隧道下穿部分瘦狗嶺地段、廣園東路、廣園高架橋等，起點里程為Y（Z）DK0+036.0，終點里程為Y（Z）DK0+336.676，總長為300.676m。廣州東站暗挖隧道地表主要為火車東站站區，起點里程為YDK0+336.676,終點里程為Y（Z）DK0+605.182，總長268.51m。車站及折返線隧道防水等級分別為一級和二級。

Guangzhou East Railway Station bored tunnel surface mainly East Railway Station area, starting mileage YDK0 +336.676, end mileage for the Y (Z) DK0 +605.182, length 268.51m.
