本工程是為了改善XX縣城內的交通條件而設計，在紅星廣場與縣汽車站之間修建，將來形成快速通道。隧道全長402.33m，凈寬10m,凈高6.73m，半園拱形斷面，曲墻加仰拱（僅Ⅳ類圍巖地段無仰拱），洞門為端墻式。洞內縱坡I=4.4%，受兩端連接道路標高及地形控制無法降低，進出口路面設計高程相對高差17.703m，為一超規范要求坡限的單洞雙車道隧道。本工程包括洞口工程、洞身工程、路面工程、裝飾工程，照明工程等項。地震烈度按6度設防。
