桂陽至嘉禾公路東起桂陽黃臘塘，續(xù)郴州—桂陽高等級公路，西至嘉禾縣城，是湖南省道S322線（原1806線）的一段，是郴州市通往永州、廣西的重要經(jīng)濟干線。在湖南省1999—2020年公路網(wǎng)規(guī)劃和湖南2010年綜合交通能信網(wǎng)規(guī)劃中，本公路屬于湖南省縱五橫主干線公路網(wǎng)第五橫的組成部分，是湖南南部唯一的的東西向公路通道，它與國道G107線和京珠高速公路形成完整的完整的兩縱一橫框架，戰(zhàn)略位置十分重要，已列入湖南省“十五”
