新長(zhǎng)鐵路由隴海鐵路的新沂站引出，向南經(jīng)江蘇省新沂市、淮陰、海安后，一條經(jīng)如皋至南通，另一條經(jīng)靖江跨長(zhǎng)江后，經(jīng)江陰、宜興在浙江省長(zhǎng)興縣與宣杭線長(zhǎng)興站接軌。
本次續(xù)建工程是對(duì)原新沂站至袁北站（不含）102.3公里的地方鐵路進(jìn)行技術(shù)改造。該工程自新沂站東端接出后跨沭河，經(jīng)新沂南與徐連一級(jí)公路、205國(guó)道相交叉，途經(jīng)高流、陰平、廟頭后跨新沂河、航道河，與沭陽(yáng)二環(huán)路、沭陽(yáng)公路平交至沭陽(yáng)，跨柴米河，經(jīng)吳莊、十湖、新莊、新北干渠，經(jīng)前祁莊、跨新塘河至泗陽(yáng)，跨六塘河至徐溜，經(jīng)吳里至新長(zhǎng)鐵路袁北站新沂端，線路全長(zhǎng)102.3公里。
新建線路標(biāo)準(zhǔn)為國(guó)鐵一級(jí)，單線。
The new long railway from the station leads to the Longhai Railway, Xinyi, Jiangsu Province, south by the Xinyi City, Huaiyin, MSC, the one by Nantong Rugao to the other one by the Jingjiang across the Yangtze River, by Jiangyin, Yixing Changxing County in Zhejiang Province and Xuan-Hang Line Changxing station integration.
The reconstruction project is the original Yuan Xinyi Station to North Station (not including) 102.3 km of local railways for technological transformation. Xinyi stations east of the project since the termination is granted, inter Shuhe by Yinan and 徐連 a new road intersects with State Road 205, via high-flow, IA, Temple, after the first cross-Xinyi River, river channel, and Shuyang Ring Road to the Cross Highway Shuyang Shuyang, cross leading a poor river, by Talking about Wuzhuang, 10 Lake, New Village, New North Main, by the former Qi Zhuang, Tong River to siyang across new, cross-six Tong River to xuliu by Miss Lane and Xinchang Railway Station in Xinyi Yuan North side, the line length 102.3 km.
New standards for the national railway line level, one-way.
